The weak point in this evidence
The meta-analysis compares against chemical peeling, not against doing nothing. So the number says: microneedling is at least as good as an established treatment. It does NOT say "1.79 times better than doing nothing."
My own acne scars
The photo is of my own face, from personal use. I also used a skincare routine alongside it, so I can't isolate what microneedling alone contributed. My scars became shallower, but didn't disappear, and your results may vary.

Only start if you can take sun protection seriously. Because of the fresh micro-channels, the skin is temporarily more sun-sensitive: no direct sun or tanning beds for 24 hours after treatment, and after that, daily high-factor (at least SPF 30) sunscreen, especially in the days following treatment. UV breaks down collagen and can cause discoloration, so without sun protection, UV can undo what the needling started.
Not every acne scar is the same
Rolling and boxcar scars fill in with collagen induction. The deep icepick channel doesn't.

Will it scar my skin?
The needle makes many tiny, separate punctures: intact skin remains between them, and regeneration starts from there, which lets it heal without scarring. Linear, "tram-track"-like scars come from sideways movement (dragging), and the stamp rules exactly that out: one press down, one lift up, no dragging.

The dermaroller inherently drags: it rotates, entering and exiting at an angle, which causes the "tram-track scar." The motorized pen is a vertical device, but it runs continuously: if you drag it across the skin instead of lifting it between two points, a linear mark can form there too. That's a user error, but an easy one to make. The manual stamp works without a motor or rotation, at a fixed 1 mm, with a single motion: there's nothing to get wrong in the movement. That's why, for home use in inexperienced hands, this is the most controllable, hardest-to-mess-up form, you're in charge the whole time. The remaining risk is excessive pressure (especially over bony areas), so don't force it in, and don't go above 1 mm.

Microneedling made improvement ~79% more likely than chemical peeling (RR 1.79). PMID 42281674 So the comparison is against an established treatment, not against doing nothing.

How many sessions do I need?
Minimum 3–6 sessions, every 4–6 weeks. No results are expected after 1–2 sessions, building collagen takes time. If there's nothing after 3, the protocol (depth, scar type) needs adjusting.
Is this the same as a clinical treatment?
Not the same. According to the evidence, microneedling is comparable to chemical peeling, laser may offer more for deeper scars.
Can I use it on active acne?
No. Stamping on active acne is forbidden, it can cause pigmentation spots and infection. Address the active acne first, and only treat the settled, scarred area.
Who it's NOT for
Keloid tendency or abnormal scarring: NEVER. If you've ever grown a keloid scar, microneedling stimulates exactly the collagen formation that's overactive in you. It's a contraindication in the instructions for use as well, and this is the group where it can do the most harm.
Severe, inflamed acne: contraindicated overall, not just on the affected spots. The needle carries the bacteria deeper and into neighboring follicles. Address the inflammation first, with a dermatologist, there's time for the scars later.

What do the studies referenced here prove, and what do they NOT prove?
Important: these studies support microneedling as a method, typically with a clinical device (roller, motorized pen, radiofrequency device), under medical supervision. No study has been done with our device, and we don't have a study of our own. We bring the mechanism home, as safely as possible: many good effects are possible, but we can't guarantee anything.
The older a scar is, the harder it is to shift: the connective tissue matures over time and becomes more stubborn. Old scars aren't hopeless either, but time isn't working for you. If you have active acne, address that first, order and patience.

What to expect?
Does it hurt? What to expect the first time?
Personal experience
Not pleasant, but in my own experience, clearly bearable. On the image I marked how sensitive I found each zone:
- Green: easiest. Forehead, most of the face.
- Yellow: noticeable, but comfortable. Around the eyebrows, nose bridge, jaw.
- Red: more sensitive, but short-lived. Nose, under-eye area, around the mouth. Don't stamp near the eyelid or inner corner of the eye.
In my experience the scalp is less sensitive than the face. The first session feels the most unfamiliar, but based on customer feedback, most people expect it to be worse than it is.
How long does your skin stay red?
In my experience the redness on the face fades within a few hours, with little trace left by the next morning. In more sensitive zones (nose, around the mouth) it can take a bit longer. On the scalp it's less visible, mostly covered by hair, and settles faster.
Don't wear makeup the next day. Sun protection is required.
What's allowed and what isn't after stamping? →Personal experience, not a clinical study result. Individual reactions may vary.
What shouldn't you use it for?
Don't use it on irritated, sunburned, actively inflamed, or infected skin. Not recommended for open wounds, active acne, eczema, or psoriasis-affected areas. If you take blood thinners or are under dermatological treatment, check with your doctor.

How do you know it's enough? How hard should you press?
It's not about force. Work with vertical, precise motions: straight in, straight out. Go over each area several times to cover the whole zone evenly. The device's 1 mm needle length helps you avoid going deeper than needed.

It undergoes electron-beam treatment during manufacturing. It's not a sterile device, disinfect it before each single use, according to the instructions. It keeps its factory cleanliness until the packaging is opened.
